Day 15 Harrodsburg, KY to Bardstown, KY

Yorktown, VA to Harrodsburg, KY Completed 852 Miles

Biking Detail Harrodsburg, KY to Bardstown, KY
Day 15 Tuesday, May 26
Left at 8:00 AM. Only two bikers now, Andreas and me. Today takes us from Harrodsburg to Bardstown, KY.  Lots of slightly rolling hills and tobacco plants. I think we finally left the big climbs and now we have lots of little ones but nothing greater than 9%. Had a nice tail wind for most of the ride but it turned to a headwind as we approached Bardstown. Had a very scenic one lane road, Mayes Creek Road, I think SR 453, for about five miles. So peaceful, new pavement, lots of farms and rarely a passing car, like a private bike path. Not much along this stretch in the way of small stores. Stopped on side of the road about 7 miles out of Bardstown for a snack break. Broke out the camp chairs and settled in off a farmer's driveway. Cold water and snickers held us over until lunch in Bardstown. Staying at the General Nelson Inn on Stephen Foster road. Bardstown, population 12,500, is the home of Stephen Foster and where he wrote My Old Kentucky Home. It is the second oldest town in Kentucky and the bourbon capital of the world! Arrived at Motel at 2:15. We showered, and Margie got laundry done then loaded up bikes to head to Bardstown Road Bike Shop in Louisville to get the bikes tuned. Bike shop was great. Two hours later bikes we were done. Had dinner at Mark's Feed Store, a BBQ restaurant, in Louisville before making the hour drive back to Bardstown.

Let's see only 20 more miles right?

I think I'll sit here for awhile. Anyone got a beer?
