Biking Detail Houston, MO to Marshfield, MO

Day 25 Friday, June 5

Started day at 7:30. Adventure Cycling non-supported group of 11 also on the road, as well as Ed and Andreas. Hills not bad but legs are starting to feel the hills. About 90 minutes into the ride, about Graff, ran into pretty large ugly weather front. Fortunately Margie was at the top of the hill and pulled over at an intersection with good size pull-off area. Andreas and I took shelter in the car to wait it out. Storm tracker has it overhead with lots of yellow and orange😁. Glad to have that app on the phone so we can see location, direction, speed, etc. lasted about 40 minutes, then back on the road.

Most of the Adventure cyclists took cover in a cemetery under a tree which did not keep them very dry. They were glad to have our support vehicle stop as they were repairing a flat and inflating new tube a lot easier with a large tire pump versus small portables they carry. Glad we could help.

Stopped in Hartville for lunch at a BBQ Cafe. Only smoke meat two weekends a month and we got one. AC group pulled in there as well. Had BBQ pork sandwiches and salad for $4.50. Very hot and humid following the storm. About 23 miles to Marshfield and nothing in between.  About two miles out of Marshfield hit a second storm!!! Welcome to the Midwest! Also aided in the repair of a second flat when Ed's tire went flat right before the storm hit. Fortunately he had an old gas station shelter to pull under. Finally reached the Holiday Inn Express about 3:30, tired and wet. Glad not to be camping as storm number three just hit, about 4:45, probably as unsupported group setting up their tents in the city park! We are happily situated in our room!
