Biking Detail Lander, WY to Dubois, WY |
Day 43 Tuesday, June 23
Left Lander at 6:10. Very comfortable temperature. Shoulders still newly paved. Can feel the difference with the new tire and new chain will help with shifting as I make the start of the climb to Togwotee. Very scenic today with Crowheart Butte a focal point for many miles!
Snow capped Tetons come into view that giving me a glimpse of beauty but also climbs ahead! Roads have stayed nice! Most scenic area on the trip yet going through the canyon east of Dubois with its intense red rock formations!! Incredible scenery! Came upon the Wind River adding even greater intensity to the already beautiful setting.
Hard to stay focused on the road! Made good time all day..no significant headwind today and the climbs were fairly easy at 5% or less. Got to Dubois about 12:45, much earlier than expected. 75 miles with headwinds would have put us here couple hours later. Will enjoy a second afternoon off.
